The beautiful and playful hand-crafted jute “word-bags” from The Jacksons are a joyous outcome of the design collaboration between Louise Jackson and the skillful traditional handicraft workers of Southwest Bangladesh.

The Jacksons are proud to work closely with about 5000 women in Bangladesh, in an area where there are no job opportunities for women. The wonderful women who hand make these bags now have access to free medical care and education for their children but most importantly, they are paid directly which gives them status and power to make decisions within the family.

Louise visits regularly and has seen at first hand the real benefits it provides. In our group of ladies, we now have a handful of women at University and the majority of young girls going on to the equivalent of Sixth Form College.
